For eleven years in a row, the Ukrainian Energy Forum has been uniting Ukrainian and international energy community around resolution of pressing issues of energy development, independence and security. This year, the event was held on February 25-27 at InterContinental Kyiv, and the discussions focused on “Modernization of Ukrainian energy sector for sustainable and integrated energy future in Europe”.
The forum serves as an independent expert platform for dialogue between all key stakeholders of the energy market – government and business, regulators and executives of the leading companies, potential investors and entrepreneurs, experts and media community.
The event was opened by Matti Maasikas, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine. Among others, forum speakers included Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Yulia Kovaliv, Board Chairman of the Naftogaz Group Andriy Kobolyev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Andrii Herus, Chief of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil Roman Opimakh, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas, Energy Community Secretariat Director Janez Kopač and others.
The Energy Group Burisma was represented on the forum by Member of the Board of Directors Karina Zlochevska.
“This is one of the most important and most professional events in the domain of energy development. Every year we discuss the results and consolidate our efforts to define trajectory of energy development for the future. Reformation of the energy sector and government support of key stakeholders on the market is an important step towards energy security and energy independence,” Karina Zlochevska said.
According to her words, the global model of energy market is undergoing rapid transformation. And the key factors of these changes is reliability of energy supplies, energy and environmental safety, and energy efficiency. These processes are raising many questions among the participants of Ukrainian energy market. In particular, how to engage new investments into gas extraction and maintenance of gas networks? Which technological and organizational innovations should be used in order to expand and optimize the energy resources supply chain? How to improve energy efficiency and thus energy independence and competitiveness of Ukraine?
“It is better to look for answers to these and other questions in a professional circle with participation of Ukrainian and international experts. I am grateful to the organizers of this event for the opportunity to discuss current issues of the energy sector, adopt best practices, learn about the newest strategies, technological solutions and modern global trends,” Ms. Zlochevska noted.
Karina Zlochevska also emphasized that systemic reforms and clear rules of play for energy market participants is a principal condition for successful development of the energy sector of Ukraine in the future.
The Ukrainian Energy Forum 2020 engaged dozens of reputable speakers, senior government officials and representatives of key public agencies, executives of leading global companies and world-recognized experts on issues of energy economics.
