Burisma Holdings joins the 11th Annual YES Meeting as Special Partner

23 September 2014

Burisma Holdings, the largest independent gas producer in Ukraine, has acted as a special partner of the 11th Annual YES Meeting, “New Ukraine, New Europe, New World: Building and Defending” held on September 11-13, in Kyiv, Ukraine. The Meeting organized in partnership with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation brought together more than 350 leading political, business and public figures from over 20 countries.

“The YES Meeting is the Ukrainian Davos. It is one of the few places where big business meets the government to find a solution to some of the most pressing issues and challenges that Ukraine is facing. One of the main objectives today is to build an effective strategy for Ukrainian energy security, where the development of private gas sector is the key component. This sphere should be considered in terms of its potential. It’s the second leading industry in the country after agriculture displaying growth and the ability to pull the whole economy back together even in most difficult times. Ukraine is making a major transformation in the energy sector. With this in mind, the syndrome of revolutionary transition needs to overcome structural obsolescence and the vestiges of Soviet thinking in the gas sphere”, noted an independent director of Burisma Holdings Devon Archer.

The YES Meeting welcomed such panelists as the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Oleksandr Turchynov, the National Bank Chairman Valeriya Hontaryeva, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the YES Meeting, the President of Poland (1995-2005) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Burisma Holdings Aleksander Kwasniewski, as well as the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso, the former Chief of Staff, Supreme Allied Powers Europe, NATO, the US Army General Wesley Clark, the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman, the Foreign Minister, the Minister of Regional Development, the Minister of Energy and Coal industry of Ukraine, Kyiv City Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, the Governor of Donetsk region Sergei Taruta and many other notable guests.

This year the organizers chose the National Cultural-Art and Museum Complex “Mystetskyi Arsenal” as a venue for the event. In between heated debates the guests could sit back and enjoy a relaxing, yet innovative lounge area of the Burisma Holdings. According to Devon Archer, similar symbolism was not chosen by chance and was called upon to demonstrate the willingness of independent gas producers to improve business processes as well as a technological base for the common good of the Ukrainian people.
