The first place in the converted electric vehicles category got Cenntro Auto crew on GAZ M-20 (Pobeda). Burisma team on Opel Ampera won in the hybrid cars nomination. They got most points at all race stages. It has become a tradition and hallmark of the marathon for the winner to be determined not by speed, but by total time spent at intermediate stages. At the award ceremony held on Palace Square in Monte Carlo His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and President of Burisma Holdings Nikolay Zlochevskyi presented an award to the winner. Vice-President of the Electric Marathon Andrew White awarded the winners in the hybrid cars category, and Honorary Consul of Monaco in Estonia and Director of Electric Marathon Jüri Tamm presented the Prince of Monaco Albert II with a gift from mayor of the city where the marathon started off.

“The fourth rally-marathon took place in 17 European cities and 10 countries becoming a symbol of innovation. Therefore, it is joined by more and more people each year, and, importantly, companies. We are delighted that this year Ukraine, one of the largest countries in Europe, joined us with the team of socially responsible business represented by country’s largest gas producer Burisma Holdings”, noted the Prince of Monaco Albert II.

The President of Burisma Holdings Nikolay Zlochevskyi stressed that business, just like a marathon, is not about speed, but the right strategy, which defines the ultimate result. “Burisma Holdings as the largest gas producer in Ukraine has chosen the innovative development model, and the Electric Marathon 2015 is a community of like-minded people, including His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco that believe that a creating a cleaner future is a prerequisite and a rule every person should live by”, said Nikolai Zlochevskiy.

Apart from HSH Prince Albert of Monaco II, many prominent people from Europe supported the current pan-European “Green Marathon”. In the Austrian city of Graz the Marathon was joined by Barone Federico Bianchi, who has been with the rally for a few years now. Rafael de Mestre, a famous Spaniard who travelled around the world in 80 days on his electric vehicle, also participated in the marathon.

Starting in one of the European capitals, the Electric Marathon takes place for the 4th year in a row. This year, the rally as before aimed at fostering and sustaining development of environmentally friendly transport officially took off in Kiev. The race saw 6 main teams. The terms of the rally allowed everyone to join at any stage of the competition. The only condition was driving an electric or a hybrid vehicle. As a result, Electric Marathon 2015 involved a record number of electric cars – 65. Also, the rally was attended by 25 electric bikes.

Burisma Holdings, the largest private gas company in Ukraine was a title partner for Electric Marathon 2015, which once again reaffirms company’s role in shaping a new generation of socially responsible individuals and businesses. Symbolically, the Electric Marathon 2015, starting in Kyiv, will pass through the entire European continent on the eve of the anniversary of signing the Economic part of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. This, again, shows that only together with our European partners, we will manage to cross the barriers we’re facing today, and the energy sector will be a powerful driver for Ukraine’s European integration”, noted the adviser to the Board of Directors at Burisma Holdings Vadym Pozharskyi.

“Innovative and environmentally friendly technologies are a priority in our work, both domestically and internationally. Therefore, the joint work within the framework of the pan-European Electric Marathon 2015 is a chance to demonstrate and support new environmental standards and ways of thinking, stimulating the transition from traditional to environmentally friendly alternative energy sources”, said Vadym Pozharskyi.
